While long overdue, Creative Vibes is proud to finally announce the opening of its new publishing business.
As part of its plan to represent the individuals and bands whose music it is passionate about, Creative Vibes has teamed up with long time business friends EMI Publishing (the relationship that started back in the late 90’s when Pnau signed a publishing deal with them) to handle its synchronizations worldwide – recommending its songs to movie houses, advertising agencies, game developers, TV channels and much more. The association with EMI and its connections with distributors around the world ultimately means that Creative Vibes Publishing is aiming at being a global player in the publishing market.
DJ Soup
The first signing to both the label and publishing arm of Creative Vibes is the production genius DJ Soup. Much of what we owe in the Hip Hop and Dance scene we owe to some of the first steps John Blake took back in the early pioneering days of the Australian Dance scene. His production style has changed quite a great deal since those days with more emphasis on constructing from internal sounds from his laptop now than samples. The first offering, an EP titled “Uber Soup” is just the beginning of what seems to be a big year for the man.
Laneous And The Family Yah
Queensland’s Westenders “Laneous And The Family Yah” are without argument are one of the best performing and writing teams in the country! With overtones of MIA, the fusion and chord progressions of Herbie Handcock and his Headhunters with a splash of “Return To Forever” combined with the Funk or Sly and The Family Stone this band has a sound like no other in Australia. They’re also prolific in writing as well so we’re going to be treated to many years of great tunes.
Enola Fall
Creative Vibes have been fans of Enola Fall for many years so working with the group on a recording and publishing level is exciting. EF are one of the most respected bands to come out of Tasmania. They write beautiful melodies that combine powerful falsetto’s which are delivered by front man Joe Nuttall. “ I Am An Aerial “ EP is their first offering on Creative Vibes which was released early this year. A new EP will be released sometime in August.
Bitrok
Brissy ex-pats Bitrok (who you may know from Gotye’s remix album “Mixed Blood”) are almost ready to release their first single “Constellation” which features the vocals and guitar of Children Collides’ Johnny Mackay. Their production style has been likened to Chemical Brothers but our feeling is they’re a little more unique and have their own sound. The album is due to drop later in 2011, watch this space, it’s a story that’s due to unfold quite nicely.
Teinne
Tim Downey (the artist behind the name) resides in Hobart but is an ex-Victorian. He spent most of his musical journey in Melbourne and went to the same school (a year below) as Wally Debaker AKA Gotye and played in some of the same school bands. His style of music is quite special with an EP dropping early July. I could go into more detail about the music but you’ll have to stay tuned.
